abandoned monuments from former Yugoslavia attracted millions of visitors per year in the 80’s, now lie mostly forgotten throughout the Balkans. the sculptures were commissioned by President Josip Broz Tito to commemorate WWII, and are on sites of significant battles and former concentration camps. photography by Jan Kempenaers.
